Nature Immersion @ the Gardens
Step away from the city bustle and reconnect with the restorative power of nature. Unplug and slow down among our lush landscapes to discover how gentle observation can transform your well-being.
Rediscover Your Connection with Nature
In the end, we will conserve only what we love; we will love only what we understand and we will understand only what we are taught.— Baba Dioum (1968)

Rediscover the practice of connecting with nature.
While our educational talks, tours and workshops focus on 'learning about' the natural environment, our nature immersion initiatives offer the experience of being with the land.
Through unhurried sensory invitations, we hold space for you to reestablish a personal dialogue with the living world, nurturing a sense of belonging that supports lasting mental well-being.
About Nature Immersion
This practice finds its roots in forest therapy, and the Japanese tradition of Shinrin-yoku (forest bathing). While forest therapy and forest bathing are often used interchangeably, we prefer the term Nature Immersion. This choice aligns with our mission at the Singapore Botanic Gardens: Connecting People, Plants and Place.
This practice guides participants through a structured series of invitations to slow down and engage their senses. The goal is to cultivate a reciprocal relationship with nature. These invitations are non-prescriptive, leaving space for individual experience without expectation.
Restorative Effects of Nature Immersion
Spending time connecting with nature can trigger a "restorative effect" in the human body and mind. Forest reserves or endless wilderness is not a requirement to experience these benefits. Nature immersion can be practised in a compact city-state like Singapore, at any green spaces where nature is allowed to flourish.

Our Philosophy on Access:
We believe nature immersion is a vital tool for urban resilience. The goal of our community-focused pricing is to provide an accessible, entry-level experience within our world-class Botanic Gardens, creating a welcoming space for students, families, and seniors to reconnect with nature.
Note: Sessions require a minimum number of participants to proceed.
NI Trails (Self-Led)
Something exciting is coming up soon in Q3 2026. Stay tuned!
If our scheduled Nature Immersion Walks do not align with your timing, or if you simply prefer a solitary journey, our Nature Immersion Trails offer the perfect alternative.
Thoughtfully carved through the heart of our landscapes, these trails guide you through a sequence of 'natural rooms' featuring prompts to deepen your experience. Here, the goal is not to complete the trail loop and reach the finish line, but to immerse yourself in the environment at your own pace.
NI Spots (Self-Led)
Something exciting is coming up in 2027. Stay tuned!
With 82 hectares of lush greenery, finding the perfect spot to reconnect with nature can feel like a daunting task for first-timers. To help you find your footing, we have handpicked a few of our favourite spots — each chosen for the stimuli it offers and its unique atmosphere.
Think of these as your starting points. Soon enough, you will find your own Nature Immersion Spots in the Gardens.
Association of Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT) Certification
The Nature Immersion Walk is facilitated by guides trained and certified by the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT), a global leader in forest therapy. The certification empowers our guides to deliver high-quality nature immersion programmes tailored to the Gardens' landscapes and living collections.
The Nature Immersion Trail is also ANFT-certified, joining a growing network of certified trails worldwide that is focused on meaningful outdoor experiences, nature conservation and personal well-being.
Something exciting is coming up soon and we are proud to share that it will be the first ANFT-certified trail in Asia!
