Tips for a 1-hour visit
We would be sad if you only stayed for an hour. Do remember to factor in walking time from the nearest MRT stations.
At a comfortable pace, you can explore the National Orchid Garden and enjoy a colourful display from our collection of over 200 orchid hybrids. Highlights include the Tan Hoon Siang Mist House, the Orchidarium, the Bromeliad Collection and the Cool House, where hybrids and species are presented within a natural landscape.
Before leaving, you may wish to stop by the Gardens Shop for souvenirs or take a short break at the kiosk near the Ginger Garden!
Tips for a 2-hour visit
A two-hour visit allows for a more relaxed stroll through the National Orchid Garden, with time to explore the Rain Forest and, if pace allows, parts of the Learning Forest. Do remember to allow an additional 15 to 25 minutes for the walk to the nearest MRT stations when planning your exit.
Tips for a 4 to 5-hour visit
Spending half a day in the Gardens allows time to explore at an unhurried pace. Early mornings, between 6am and 8am, are especially pleasant, with cooler air and increased bird activity.
Starting from the Tanglin Entrance, visitors will encounter Swan Lake, Singapore’s first ornamental lake. Along the way, look out for Heritage Trees and outdoor sculptures as you make your way towards the Bandstand and Ginger Garden.
From there, visit the National Orchid Garden and the Ginger Garden before heading into the Rain Forest. Exit towards the Nassim Entrance, where lunch is available at one of the Gardens’ four food and beverage outlets. This route brings the visit comfortably to around 1pm, though many visitors choose to stay longer.
The Gardens can be accessed via Napier MRT Station (Thomson–East Coast Line) or Singapore Botanic Gardens MRT Station (Circle Line or Downtown Line).
